6th XV

The 6th XV of Hampstead actually comprises two distinct teams, but together they are the invitational teams of the club, renowned for taking the Hampstead flair and skill to extremes.

The first of the teams is the place where so many great Hampstead players have begun their careers, known as the Hurricanes. This team epitomises running rugby at its finest, what some would seem to think of as the purest form of rugby brilliance, and indeed, this team is renowned as one that has never lost a single match since its formation in 2007… all four games have resulted in victories!

The other team that comprises the 6th XV, are the gnarled, veteran warriors known as The Legends. Unfortunately, since “Vets” rugby is usually considered as over-35, and the average age of these hardy few is about 50, we could not insult Vets rugby by calling them as such, so thus was born The Legends. In the decades since they retired, the fading memory has taken over the bodies of these men and so they play in the style that they boast of in the pub, rather than limited by body and mind as during their proper playing careers.
