It has been a number of years since I remember any Hampstead 1XV side winning without loss of points. That changed on Saturday.
On a windswept pitch in the heart of North London, the first outing of the season for the boys was a triumphant one vs. a well organised Finchlay team. The first half was a cagey affair as the Hampstead new bloods settled into the patterns. By the second however it was business as usual.
The debutantes impressed throughout the game, with try's scored by old and new. The scoreline portrayed a dominant defensive display, with Finchlay rarely threatening our try line. Our Attacking superiority came to fruition in the second half as we ran away with the game - even if some points were left on the table..
An encouraging start to the seasons games, but much to work on.
