Thoughts, love and prayers to all who knew and will be grieving Lewis. RIP mate.

You never ever want to have to write one of these pieces, especially when it is about a life cut tragically short. Lewis was 19, a whole life in front of him, but someone thought they were tough carrying a knife and used it on Lewis. You read about these senseless attacks, but it never hits home until you know the victim and know the personality and the potential of that person. A night out in Kensington turned into a nightmare for his family & friends, for whom the club is at a loss of how to purvey our condolences.

Lewis was one of the early crop of kids who came to the club via its All Schools' work. He was tall, fast, athletic - a natural sportsman - and a lad who could rally others. He was the obvious choice as captain for the fledgling 'elder-boys' team. He learnt fast, and despite his appalling time keeping was a natural leader and someone who was ever a thorn in the side of the opposition. When school finished, Lewis went to work with a family member, which meant rugby had to be put on hold. It is awful to know that we can’t tempt him back to fulfil his outstanding potential because of some coward in a street, late at night.

Thoughts, love & prayers to all who knew & will be grieving Lewis. RIP mate.
