County trials, Wasps FC, 1/10/17

On a dark, grey Sunday afternoon we had a good representation of Hampstead girls turn out for The Middlesex trials. As to be expected from Middlesex, they were kept hanging around, whilst the county lot tried to get their act together.

After an eon proceedings got underway & hope beyond hope, the organisers would complete proceedings without the need for spectators to turn the car lights on, so the girls could see what they were doing - it proved a close run thing.

Given all our girls present have less than a year’s rugby experience under their belts, all acquitted themselves well & Mike’s & Barbara’s training is paying off – with good handling & straight running lines to the fore.

In u15s we had six girls turn out and competing with 45 other lasses for a county shirt. In u18s we had 5 girls up against another 35 wannabes.

As said, none looked out of place & it is with much pride and honour to report that we now have 4 u15 County girls & 2 u18s The latter is more impressive, given our girls are in the first year of a 3year span age group.

With our next game away to Haringey on 15th October, which will also include our u13 girls, the club can feel enthusiastic about our newest section.

So many congratulations to –
