Applications for Autumn International 2010 Tickets

Couple of changes to the process this year detailed on the form.

Admin Fee increased from £3.00 to £5.00.
Cheques will be cashed once received.
Once tickets have been allocated any refunds (by cheque) will be returned.

Deadline for ticket applications will be 27th August.

The Pre-Season Cup is a one-day rugby and netball tournament designed to solve your pre-season coaching needs and team bonding all in one! The event will also feature the finals of the Premiership Touch Rugby Summer League. Spectators get in free!

All teams are guaranteed a minimum of four 20-minute games before the knockout stages, with a maximum of six games all up. This is your chance to try old and new players alike in different combinations, with breaks between your games for the opportunity to make changes and reflect on performances.

The tournament will end with an official after party which is the perfect chance for pre-season team bonding. All players get free entry! for those who want to make a weekend out of it all players will also get free entry to the World famous Church.

GOLF DAY

The HRFC Masters Open Golf Championship 2010 has changed venue.

We are now looking at running the day at Hampstead Golf Club which is on Winnington Road, near to Kenwood. The date of Sunday 18th July remains unchanged.

Hampstead is a far superior course and through intense negotiations I have managed to persuade them to match the terms that Trent Park were offering. Hampstead is of course our namesake also so it seems apt to hold the Championship here. You can see my house from the course also which is a bonus for everyone.

Our only constraint is that numbers will be limited to 15- there are still a few places left so first come, first served.

To recap, the day includes:

Full English breakfast with tea, coffee, OJ, toast on arrival

18 holes of championship golf

Cricket Match – the Parkies want revenge ….report on last match, sounds as if another planned soon . Justin reported…Thanks to everybody who turned out , playing or spectating . Rain affected limited overs game 10 overs each went ahead despite weather that initially resembled a wet afternoon in November . Cracking game that went down to the wire with Hampstead avenging last years defeat and holding out to win by 1 run . Some spirited sledging from the sidelines ,mostly aimed at Hampstead , particularly from Mike Worters whose notable description of Shane Godding as a " 6 foot four Saffa , with thighs like tree trunks and 2 metre arms and he still bowls like my Granny " remains notable. Cracking evening, weather regardless ,with BBQ and football under a marquee . Will try & organise another game later in the Summer, with better weather. Great evening and thanks to l the spectators turning out, all helps build a great relationship with the City

The cricket match went ahead despite the weather & we beat the parkies on the last ball, with Barty keeping the batsmen pinned back. Well done to Justin for organising the event

Membership changes- we have introduced an annual fee of £30 (£20 if student / un-waged). This will cover things such as insurance , entry to Leagues etc, right to apply for Intl tickets. Once paid you'll be issued with a membership card & the new sponsorship team are going to be busy trying to get pubs, clubs, shops etc on discount schemes on this card. The White Horse have already agreed to 10% off meals at the pub. Non payers will not be legible to play. Match fees remain £10 / £5 per game if not on DD. If not already signed up for DD (or tried to be clever & stopped payments over the Summer) then this will be increased to £25 (£15 s / u) by 1 August, so suggest you sign up now if you wish to pay the current fee of £20 (£10 s/u). Finance – basically we are in the black, but everything has gone up & our out goings have risen accordingly. Our subs have not risen in 4 years so Exec Committee to look at this. Jim Brunt will keep behind the Direct Debits & it was agreed an annual subscription charge will be introduced, receiving a membership card that will be used for discounts etc when Sponsorship deals kicks in. Again Exec Committee to sort & report back. Ian Pugh has done a fantastic job now for numerous years but has stepped down, with Mark Paskowitz stepping into his shoes. Wish to thank Ian for all his efforts.

Team Captains : thank all outgoing incumbents – Dai, 3 years, Kieron, Tony Mee, Brendan Larkin.

2nds – Brunty & Ceri Thomas.

Hurricanes – we have been close to having an occasional 6^th side over the last few years & need to push this. The Hussars were only resurrected a few years back when we had fallen to 4 sides, because someone agreed to skipper, therefore – Sumo captain, aided by Keith Burrowes.

Legends team to have a few extra fixtures– leaving this to Glenn Taylor & ST to organise.

This forthcoming season the captains & the club will have help from Theresa Shepherd who is to aid with admin & help & drive other factors such as social & sponsorship etc.

We had volunteers to help out generally in club affairs, can't committ to a n actual role, but willing to help out now & again - Leah Llach, Kathryn Davey, Anita Oliver, Betony Lloyd, Ele Bowden .

The Ladies have added to their coaching staff, bringing on Terangy to assist the backs, & the plan is to be in a position to have 2nd XV fixtures during the forthcoming season, with the 1st XV building on the success of last year.

General Manager – a new role to keep an eye on training kit; match day kit comings & goings, medical kit etc; checking that captains collect subs, ensuring leaving training area etc clear; collecting new player details. Policing meet times & generally keep things ticking over – Kenny Rasmussen , aided by Jerry Judge.

Web manager – Thanks goes to Dan Pett for all his years hosting this site. James Ruthven to take charge & approach Fran Fonagy to assist, especially setting up a junior site.

Kit manager, stash etc – a cross over role with General managers with Chris Kang to help out on club stash & looking to set up an online shop.

The Juniors – has been having greater attendances than we hoped, so already looking at launching a team come the Autumn. We have already hit that stage where we need to step up a level & up the recruitment drive. Club to actively seek volunteers to assist with coaching & to be on board for admin roles.

A number of players, current & ex , helping with the coaching already . A plea went out for more volunteers & these should speak to Rob Smith, Ali or ST if interested. It was agreed that Tues sessions remain, but for u15s only & that Saturday sessions remain for both groups, but maybe looking at Sun mornings once season starts.

The Ladies proposed an Open Day suggesting a picnic 10/7 at base of Parliament Hill and to take the form of a get to know the club, for new members & for anyone interested in joining the club, Men, Ladies or Juniors. The plan is to have people on board to have impromptu coaching sessions following on form the junior’s training. General agreement & should be the 1^st thing to look at for the recruitment; press & social committees.

The Main Tour – the last 2 trips have been great socially, but lacking in numbers, especially from players from the higher sides. It was agreed that May Bank Hols still ideal dates & that The Ball stays mid May; however the main focus is to get numbers back to the main tour, as per Athens 3 year’s ago. Pasko happy to continue alongside Brunty & Darren Bartlett.

Hampstead launches junior section

After many years talking about a junior section at Hampstead Rugby Club, we have finally stopped living a pipe dream and done something about it. The club was approached by John McCulloch of SCiS*, who runs similar schemes in Regent’s Park for football, about the possibility of setting up a junior club. John is very enthusiastic and acted as the catalyst to get this project finally off the ground. We have written to primary schools in the area to introduce 7-14 year old children of both sexes to come and experience the game of rugby.

Hampstead RFC Juniors was launched on May 15th when we held our first training session, and couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome. Twenty children of various ages turned up and we had six coaches, including club head coach Ali Halsall, on hand to cater for all sizes & experience. All the kids loved it and we firmly believe that this section of the club will only grow & grow.

After years of just catering for senior men’s teams we have started to expand our horizons. Our Ladies celebrated their 5th year this season and capped it all by winning their league emphatically. We also catered for the older players and launched a Vets team this year, even taking this latest team over to a tournament in Northern Ireland. However, we are really excited about the junior section and after planning to have friendlies in the New Year, we are now confident that we could even have teams in competitive leagues by the start of the new season.

Our main aim though is to have children just enjoy playing , training in a safe & controlled environment , learning the game & having fun. And it’s not just the kids who are enthusiastic, current players from the men’s & ladies teams, plus players who had left the club , have shown interest in helping with the coaching & administration of this venture. Coupled with SCiS’s help, we can only imagine how successful this may become.

*SCiS has been going for nearly 4 years, and employs 18 coaches with some full time coaches and one full time PE Teacher. Their coaches coach a wide range of sports, from football, gymnastics, dance, athletics, cricket etc. We coach in 18 primary schools in the local area which equates to just over 3000 children a week. We employ a range of coaches in terms of age and experience from junior coaches just starting out on their careers to senior coaches with high level experience teaching in schools We also assist our coaches on attending further training to improve their skills across a wide range of sports and levels. They therefore have very serious and experienced coaching staff and encourage children, not only to participate in school activities, but to look to join local clubs.
