The combined Hampstead/Finchley U15s Girls squad was well represented in the Middlesex squad this year with seven players being selected, including Hampstead's Ava Crofts and Micaiah Essien.

They really did us proud, playing their usual brand of strong, aggressive and skilful rugby.

It is no surprise that the Middlesex team were unbeaten across six matches. Last Sunday they won against Kent (12-7), Bucks (21 – 12), and Berks (28-7). As the scores show, they were getting better every match.

The rugby played was of the highest standard and fantastic to watch. All the girls were brilliant in attack and defence.

Ava gave the Middlesex forward pack real momentum, always taking the ball forward up the middle. And when players have been tackled by Micaiah they don’t really want it to happen again!

The spirit of the games was genuinely wonderful. All the sides demonstrated rugby’s core values, playing the matches really hard, but were also really friendly off the pitch. And the girls constantly played with a sense of fun and with smiles on their faces.

A brilliant way to end a great season for the Hampstead Girls squad.
