Injury reporting, concussion management and first aid

What you need to know

From our Rugby Safe Lead, Rachel Berry

Periodically we will be updating & reminding all club members of our measures and support around first aid, injury reporting and concussion management.

Headcase - the RFU's 'Headcase' programme is available to all to provide guidance and awareness for all club members and parents to ensure appropriate identification and management of head injuries in training and matches. Even if you've completed this previously, it's well worth refreshing your memory on the symptoms and management of concussion to ensure safety of all players. HEADCASE resources and e-learning

Proactive Injury Reporting - this season the club launched the Proactive Reporting system to all sections, which tracks all serious injuries and concussion incidents to ensure safe return to play for all adult & junior players. Logins and information is available for coaches, Team Managers, First Aiders and Physiotherapists in the club to ensure everything is tracked appropriately. Please get in touch to set up a login if you need it or if you have any further questions. Our aim is to have this embedded fully next season.

GRAS and Return to play - as per the above reporting guidelines, all players must follow a Graduated Return To Play programme after any identified concussion. This can be managed via the Proactive App very easily, but more information can be found here.

First Aid Training - we have trained up over 20 new First Aiders this year across the club. Our aim is to have qualified First Aiders at every match and training session to ensure the safety of all players. All participants will receive a Level 3 Qualification which can be transferred for work and study purposes.

If you'd be keen to sign up or register your interest for future courses, get in touch to get involved. Email secretary@hampsteadrugbyclub.co.uk.
