The first half can be summed up as follows:-
· The lean and beautiful front of Whelan, Harrison and Jackson dominating all the 57 scrums.
· Loads of knock ons and terrible off loads from Hampstead (see 57 scrums above).
· A very well taken try from Alfie Brierley, cutting a line Amy Winehouse would have been proud of and beating 4 defenders with deceptive pace for a man with an ever growing beer belly.
· A short range try scored by Mike McEwen after some direct carrying.
· An excellent touchline conversion from Verona.
· A couple of long range sucker punch tries from the opposition.
Second Half summary:-
· Loads of knock ons and terrible offloads.
· Dave Marshall ends a man’s life with the shot of the game.
· One piece of slick handling from Dunkley and Carr led Whelan to slide over in the corner taking 9 men with him, for what neutral observers described as the try of the season, the best props try ever scored and the single act likely to lead to Whelan’s recall to the first team.
· Antoine kicking a touch line conversion and then slotting a 40m penalty to take the game away from MOB at the death.
· Phil screaming like a little girl from the touchline when people wouldn’t listen to his coaching.
