Great First Fixture of the New Season

We had a great turn out considering that the Rugby World Cup were on!

Two Teams, with 16 Players in total:

Team 1: Conor, Anthony, Brandon, Edward, Harry, Milo, Seb, and Angus.

Team 2: Kasuka, Sebby, Huxley, Oscar, Alexander, Louis, Gabriel, and Johnny.

It was lovely to be once again welcomed by our friends and Neighbours at Regents Park Royals, and to have the opportunity to play against them and our friends from Kilburn Cosmos RFC.

Team one played three matches, all against RPR teams, While Team 2 had two matches against RPR teams and one against Kilburn. The players were fairly evenly matched all round, and we saw some excellent rugby from all teams, and from all of our player. This was the first time that the teams were rucking and mauling against players from another club, and on the whole it went well. There were many shining moments, some great offloads to supporting players, excellent runs, and brilliant tackles! There were also some note made on things that we need to work on with the players, but considering that we are only three weeks into the new season, with many new things being introduced, this is to be expected. It is still early days, and I know that as the season goes on the players will develop these skills further. They have already put in a lot of hard work and effort in training, which really shows during their matches.

All in all, I was extremely pleased with our players! It was a great morning of rugby, with happy players and proud parents...who also managed to get away in time to watch the England vs Tonga RWC match...so it was a win all round!

We are looking forward to our club visit to Kilburn later in the season to face these two teams again!

Team 1:

Game 1: 5-5 Draw

Team 2:

Won 2; drew 1
Game 1: 6-4 win
Some strong running, very committed tackling and good team play all round particularly ripping and rucking.

Game 2: 6-6 Draw
We were winning 4-2 at half time. We lost some structure as well as Kasuka and Oscar to injuries in the 2nd half but battled back to draw thanks to a last minute tackle, rick and rip by Huxley (who was outstanding throughout) in the last play.

Game 3: win 8-3.
Some outstanding running and off-loading. One pass from Huxley to Louis was exemplary. One huge tackle by Louis should also be mentioned.

In general the team played as a unit, ran well, passed well and tackled ferociously. One great run by Oscar in the 3rd game should also be mentioned. He ran through the entire team for his first try in a competitive game.

Some very proud (and loud) parents on the sidelines.
