The weather threw everything at the teams as they prepared for the Sacrecen’s Mini’s Festival. The squad again managed to put out two teams which was particularly impressive after last weekend also having a festival.
It is fair to say the conditions were muddy but the boys really raised their game to meet the environement. The passes were shorter than usual to allow greater accuracy and to make sure that cold and muddy hands could catch the ball.
The quality of the rugby was high with many parents commenting on the flowing multiphased nature. The ideas of running straight, taking the tackle and recycling the ball seem to have landed well with the teams.
Tacking is difficult in the conditions but to a player they made their biggest effort and it really showed. They get to be very proud of their attitude and commitment.
As always it was a pleasure to see the respect the squad showed to their teammates and opposition, “3 cheers and don’t forget the champagne!”. Muddy, tired at looking forward to a shower at the end of the morning everyone was happy. Finally thank you to all the coaches who put in so much effort with the teams each week in training, refereeing and behind the scenes planning.
