It was a beautiful day for rugby, sun shining, cool breeze and it had rained the night before so the ground was just right.

Ealing kindly offered up a ref, and the game was played in quarters to allow the boys to take on some water.

The game was close throughout, and after the first half the score was 2 tries to 1 for Ealing. Hampstead were trying route 1, but Ealing were up to the challenge and Hampstead lost the ball in contact a lot. They made up for it in defence by holding Ealing out (and up) more than once and exited well from their own 22.

The 3rd quarter was close as well, ending 3 - 3, Hampstead starting to spread the ball wide and support each other a lot more. In defence some great tackles put in and pressure on Ealings ball kept them turing it over.

The final quarter Hampstead switched on the heart after being reminded that this is their last game this season and to leave it all on the field. They did! Some powerful runs from deep and some good support play meant that Hampstead scored 2 tries and held Ealing out.

Final score 5 -3, Hampstead win!!!

Great team effort against a good Ealing side. Martin captained the side well, Forwards held most of their scrums and managed to win a couple against the head, and as a group held up Ealing players 4 times within metres of the try line. New talent found at scrum half, Jacob, when he holds his head. Great support play in the backs with 3 guys supporting every line break, and the team defence was firm, and structured. Team left it all out on the pitch and it’s a good base to build on moving into next season.

Oisin - Fly Half great opportunist try where Ealing dropped the ball backwards in their own 22 and Oisin fly kicked it and dropped on it to score.
Aron (2 tries) - Second Row 1st try was when hampstead played out of their own half and ball was passed to Aron who ran the length of the pitch. 2nd try Aron again made yards from our own half dragging 2 Ealing players along for the ride, finally got held and passed to Toby. When Toby was tackled he offloaded back to Aron who completed the run to score.
Alex - Centre Martin dived on hampstead kickoff to regain the ball, 4 phases of route 1 passing and on the fifth phase 10m out Alex saw some space and picked up the ball and dived for the line.
Amaury - Wing on halfway, Amaury makes a great tackle on the wing, got up and scopped up the ball, fending off 2 Ealing players made it the 50m to score the try. Noted on this that there were 5 Hampstead players running to support him all the way.
